Your attention, your power

Noticing where one's Attention goes, can be a useful tool in the arsenal of the self-investigator.
It can reveal where we spent a lot of energy. During the day, that week or sometimes a whole year.

Maybe we have occupied ourself with resentment for someone. For something they did years ago.
Maybe we're  still stewing in the irritation of some driver cutting us off on the road this morning.
Maybe last week's  telephone conversation with a family member.
Maybe we spent a lot of time in gratitude for all that we have.

What you place your attention on, you put energy into. Your energy is your power.

And what are you putting your power behind?
Fear? Loneliness? Ease? Peace? Abundance?

It makes for an interesting exercise to notice where you frequently park your attention.
Where?  lack "i never get what i want'? abundance? effort? ease?

Where you park often, is state of being you are often in.
Or how you Vibrate.
What you vibrate in, you attract.

More often than not, the 'universe', reciprocates by bringing to you more of the Same. Like a matching 401k contribution.

If you were to add it all up, would it be somewhat accurate to say, You influence your day?

Concious and unconciously, we can let other forces persuade us to set the tone for our day. Sometimes
our entire life.

But we could start to become the conscious force in charting the course of our day.
Try this.
When you find yourself in a state you do not quite
like, what if you start to Imagine what you would
like to See happen? Also imagine what would like to Feel as it happens?

Before you do that, first do not change where you
are at. Neither rebel nor indulge.
Allow yourself to feel the frustation and all those
not to so pretty emotions.
Accept where things are for right now.
This might take you minutes, days or months.

Do what you need to do but dont take the eye of the ball.

Now just ReImagine your circumstance.
ReImagine like an enthusiastic child creating in
his/her sandbox.
You
are now starting to be the force that
participates in your life instead of resigning yourself
to the role of a spectator.

But all that first starts with Noticing.
Noticing, without judgement, where your attention goes.

Told in many variation, this old Native American Cherokee tale makes a good point.

An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life.
"A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy.

"It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves.
One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego."

He continued, "The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.
The same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."
